Seismic Surveys

In conjunction with other NGOs, Coastwatch has embarked on a project to identify the possible impacts seismic surveys are having marine life. There is a massive lack of scientific information in this regard.The number of applications for seismic recognisance has increased with a lack of adequate studies to fully understand and mitigate negative impacts.

Current legislation and the authorities tasked with managing recognisance activities within the ocean are lacking and the potential for exploitation needs to be minimised
